Range Rules


NO intoxicating beverages or drugs will be allowed on the range.

Members shall not loan their key to the gate of the range to anyone who is not a member in good standing.

NO person under 18 years of age will be permitted on the range unless accompanied by an adult member or qualified SAGC instructor.

Visitors are welcome at the range when they are accompanied by a member in good standing. Members are asked not to bring the same guest more than twice a year.

Members will have their membership cards visible while shooting at the range.

It shall be the responsibility of each member before leaving the range to pickup and remove any trash they have generated.

NO live ammunition shall be placed in the trash barrels.

Members shall not willfully damage SAGC property in any way or litter the range with cans, boxes, bottles, etc.

Members shall only shoot at targets so that their bullet(s) shall impact the berms.

NO glass targets permitted.

Members must lock the gate after entering and leaving the range except for scheduled matches or special events.

NO armor piercing or tracer rounds will be fired on the range.

All handguns (i.e., pistols and revolvers) shall not be discharged on the rifle range except those handguns meeting IHMSA (International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association) or NRA Metallic Silhouette Official Rules, and used exclusively at 100 yards or greater. These handguns will be shot only at preset berms and/or targets.

Fully automatic arms shall not be fired on SAGC property except as part of a supervised law enforcement (Federal, State, County, Local) / Military exercise, or SAGC sanctioned event.

Failure to adhere to these rules may result in suspension or expulsion from the SAGC.

 


Range Safety Regulations


No loaded weapons will be brought to the range. All actions on rifles must be opened when not being fired, chambers empty, and safeties on. Magazines must be removed from pistols, and cylinders on revolvers must be empty when not being fired. Muzzles will be pointed down range, or holstered at all times. Safeties will be on when the weapons are cleared. The range will be cleared and determined to be safe before any weapon is loaded.

The command "CEASE FIRE" will be obeyed immediately, no matter who says it. Anyone may call a cease-fire. Clear and ground all weapons at this command. Step back from the firing line and make it safe.

DO NOT go forward of the firing line until the line is cleared. After the line is safe you may go forward.

Firearms will not be handled for any reason while people are forward of the firing line. DO NOT resume firing until the line is properly cleared and made safe.

Firearms will be cleared and made safe before removal from the firing line.

100 yd - Silhouette/Rifle

10 Pistol Bays - 10-25 yd
2 Pistol Bays - 50 yd
